About the position
We are seeking a skilled Copyright Advisor to join our Library Operations team as a key member responsible for ensuring University-wide compliance with copyright legislation and licensing requirements. Reporting directly to the University Librarian, this position operates from the University Library while maintaining extensive connections and responsibilities across all Schools and departments.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape copyright practices across our entire institution, working at the intersection of legal compliance, academic freedom, and educational innovation. You'll be the University's go-to expert on copyright matters, supporting our diverse academic community in learning, teaching, and research activities while ensuring we meet all statutory obligations.
As the Copyright Advisor, you'll work collaboratively with academic staff, researchers, students, and administrative teams across all disciplines, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys variety, stakeholder engagement, and the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on institutional operations. You'll be instrumental in developing systems and processes that enable our University community to confidently navigate the complex landscape of intellectual property while pursuing academic excellence.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Knowledge of relevant copyright and associated legislation and the ability to interpret, apply and communicate these in the University environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulations and licensing schemes and implement administrative procedures and training to assist compliance.
- Demonstrated capacity to develop relationships and liaise and negotiate effectively with key stakeholders across the organization.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills
- High level analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to set priorities, develop plans, make decisions and monitor outcomes to deliver effective services.
- Demonstrated competence to operate and learn with confidence in a digitally connected and evolving environment.
