About the position

The La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS) is a world-class multidisciplinary biomedical research institute based at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. Bringing together leading researchers from across the University and beyond, LIMS seeks equitable solutions to today’s global health and wellbeing challenges. From biology to engineering, genomics to physics, the Institute conducts impactful research through the creative integration of core scientific disciplines.

The LIMS Executive team consists of the Director and three Deputy Directors, all of whom undertake busy and demanding research programs in addition to their leadership roles; and the Manager, the Communications Advisor, and two Administration Officers, who provide strategic, promotional, and operational advice, support, and assistance to the institute’s leadership team, LIMS Program leads, and Centre Directors. The Administration Officers deliver a broad and comprehensive service managing personal schedules, travel bookings, and meeting secretariat, providing A/V support for online and hybrid meetings and events, assisting with awards processes, and conducting a range of transactional tasks. A key contribution will be using Agile methodology to assist the team with the management of its many projects.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree with extensive relevant administration experience, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience. Demonstrated expertise in administration developed through extensive relevant experience and application.
  • High level proficiency in the Office software suite including Forms, Agile technologies, and AI as a solutions-based tool. Technical and trouble-shooting skills in use of A/V technology for meetings and events.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated end-user service focus and solution orientated approach.
  • Experience working in a large, diverse organisation. Experience working specifically in the tertiary education environment will be looked on favourably.
