About the position

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous), this role leads the delivery, quality, and continuous improvement of culturally safe, student-centred services that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their university journey, from access and participation through to success and graduation, the role takes a collaborative and community-informed approach, providing operational leadership across Indigenous student support programs and services.

Key responsibilities include leading the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Indigenous Student Services across all campuses, ensuring alignment with the University’s Indigenous Strategy and community priorities; providing leadership to the Indigenous Advising and Indigenous Engagement teams, supporting a culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for both staff and students; and working closely with the Indigenous Pro Vice-Chancellor to support strategic and operational priorities that strengthen Indigenous Student Success and wellbeing.

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

    • A relevant degree, with extensive experience, preferably in Indigenous Education and or a human management role, in providing project, administrative and high-level executive support to senior management; including managing complex and sensitive matters or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culture, historical and contemporary issues affecting participation within the tertiary sector
    • Excellent critical thinking, conceptual and analytical skills; experience in undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on which to base the preparation of reports, briefing papers, discussion papers and submissions. This includes the capacity to analyse, interpret and understand a range of issues, and integrate internal and external requirements to resolve issues.
