About the position
The Manager Respect and Inclusion is directly responsible for strategically managing all aspects of the cross-university implementation, monitoring, and reporting for the Respect at La Trobe Action Plans, in particular the Prevention and Response to Gender-based Violence Action Plan and Respect Outcomes Framework, in compliance with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence. Ensuring the approach and outputs reflect, engage with and respond to the needs, experience and agency of all members of the La Trobe community, particularly those members who are disproportionately affected by violence, including women, First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people with disability and people of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity.
The role works closely with student-led organisations and student leaders, the Respect Steering Committee and its cross-portfolio / cross-divisional collaborations, including procurers, designers and operators of university systems, infrastructure and digital platforms. With service deliverers, policy and program owners and implementers, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion staff advisory groups, Academic Schools, and Research Centres, including the Reducing Gender-based Violence Research Network (ReGEN), across the health and higher education sectors, as well as community partners and others.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Demonstrated critical writing and narrative crafting skills with the ability to clearly and persuasively translate technical information into audience-appropriate material.
- A thorough understanding of how to apply a social determinants of health approach within the university as an institution and in consideration of its external environments (e.g., government legislative, guidelines and requirements).
- Ability to strategically navigate the complexity of university management, priorities and resourcing to draw together the interests of several functional areas and collectively achieve timely and effective results.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships with management teams, student-led organisations and student leaders, academics, professional staff and external stakeholders and organisations.
- Demonstrated high levels of self-motivation and personal management skills, including the ability to monitor for and prevent vicarious trauma and practice self-care.
