About the position

The Level B Lecturer will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an outstanding student learning experience, focused within the counselling and rehabilitation counselling placement team. In a teaching-focused appointment, a Level B academic is expected to contribute to curriculum development, subject coordination, teaching delivery, assessment, and student support.

This role also involves contributing to the administrative functions of the disciplines, alongside engaging in scholarly activities that enhance learning and teaching within these disciplines or professional fields. This position will include sourcing student placements and supporting students, supervisors and industry partners throughout the placement experience.

 

Duties at this level will include:

  • Coordinating and delivering subjects that provide a high-quality, engaging learning experience through lectures, tutorials, workshops, and other teaching formats across online, blended, and face-to-face modes.
  • Taking responsibility for securing and supporting placements with existing and new industry partners and supporting placement students. 
  • Providing constructive, fair and timely feedback to support student learning and progress.
  • Initiating and contributing to the design of innovative and effective curriculum aligned with emerging best practice, including the use of online and blended methodologies, and applying evidence-based approaches to evaluate and improve the student experience.
  • Adopting a scholarly approach to learning and teaching, including contributing to La Trobe’s Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT) and sharing effective practice

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • PhD degree or completion of an AQF level 10 postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to counselling or rehabilitation counselling with subsequent professional work experience
  • Knowledge of the requirements for students undertaking placements and/or in coordination of placements more generally, including familiarity with a range of existing and new placement providers.
  • Ability to engage effectively with external partners to increase student access to placement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in teaching and curriculum development in face-to-face, and/or online modes, as evidenced by, for example, high results on student feedback on teaching surveys relative to their peers, or through other forms of evidence.
  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively, collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
