About the position
This position leads the management and administration of La Trobe University’s regulatory activities under the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF), including oversight of engagement with TEQSA. It manages the Academic Standards Unit, partnering with Schools and Divisions to support high academic standards and continuous improvement.
The role provides strategic advice on compliance, risk, and evidence of performance, integrating University policies with TEQSA requirements and operating effectively within complex organisational structures. It identifies trends, risks, and opportunities across HESF compliance, manages staff responsible for academic compliance and risk, and applies expert knowledge of TEQSA to address complex and multidisciplinary issues. The position also negotiates solutions across diverse stakeholders, coordinates HESF issue management and reporting, and leads the collection and analysis of information for TEQSA registration, including reporting to senior management and governance committees.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
An AQF 8 level degree with substantial extension of theories and principles, learned through experience, or a range of management experience, or postgraduate qualifications, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
• Ability to apply theoretical knowledge or management or policy expertise to bring together diverse and sometimes conflicting information to solve new or one-off problems.
• Ability to develop innovative methodologies or take a leading role in the application of proven techniques involving considerable theoretical and technical sophistication.
• Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and clearly articulating systemic or one-off compliance and standards issues at School / Business unit levels leading to effective situational problem-solving and reporting.
