About the position
The QA & Testing Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of La Trobe University's enterprise applications by designing and executing test plans, conducting integration and data testing, and performing API testing. This technical role involves close collaboration with development, middleware, and other cross-functional teams to ensure robust end-to-end testing.
The QA & Testing Analyst will also contribute to continuous improvement efforts by adopting best practices in testing methodologies and tools, ensuring that all deliverables meet the university's high standards
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- QA and Testing Expertise: Extensive experience in QA and testing for enterprise applications, including both manual and automated testing.
- Testing Methodologies: Strong understanding of software testing methodologies such as ISTQB standards, with experience in testing processes like regression testing, integration testing, and performance testing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in creating and executing test cases for APIs, data integrity checks, and system integrations.
- Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams to identify issues and ensure application quality.
- Defect Management: Strong knowledge of defect tracking systems and defect management processes, ensuring issues are identified, documented, and resolved efficiently.
Key skills and experience include:
- Strong experience in end-to-end testing across complex enterprise applications, including integration-heavy environments
- Proven expertise in integration and middleware testing, including validation of data flows, APIs, and system interactions across platforms
- Hands-on experience working with middleware technologies and integration layers (e.g. REST/SOAP services, message queues, ETL/data pipelines)
- Demonstrated experience in API testing using tools such as Postman, REST clients, or similar
- Solid understanding of data validation and backend testing, including working with databases and validating data transformations
- Experience in test automation frameworks and tools, with a preference for Atlassian-aligned tooling (e.g. Jira, Xray, and integration with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or similar)
- Exposure to or experience with Atlassian Intelligence / Rovo, including AI-assisted testing, test generation, or workflow optimisation (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of test design techniques, risk-based testing, and test strategy development
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments, embedding QA practices within squads and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g. Bamboo, Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and integrating automated tests into pipelines
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce, or similar highly integrated systems (highly desirable)
- Strong knowledge of test management and traceability, ensuring alignment between requirements, test cases, and defects
