About the role
La Trobe University is seeking an enthusiastic and student‑centred Associate Lecturer in Criminology to join La Trobe Law School on a continuing, part‑time (0.6 FTE) basis.
This teaching‑focused academic role will see you coordinate and teach undergraduate subjects in Criminology, contribute to innovative curriculum design, and support an outstanding learning experience across face‑to‑face, blended and online delivery modes. You will also engage in scholarly activity related to learning and teaching, and contribute to the collegial and administrative life of the discipline and School.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and teach Criminology subjects, delivering engaging lectures, tutorials and learning activities across multiple delivery modes.
- Provide constructive, timely and equitable feedback to support student success.
- Contribute to subject and course‑level curriculum design, development and review, with a focus on innovative and evidence‑based teaching practices.
- Embed employability capabilities and real‑world relevance into the curriculum.
- Engage in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, including sharing good practice and contributing to learning and teaching outcomes within the discipline.
- Participate in School and course committees and undertake administrative duties aligned with the scope and level of the role.
Skills and experience
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- A completed Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, with evidence of participation in higher‑level study in Criminology or a related field.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and/or subject coordination in face‑to‑face, blended and/or online environments.
- Evidence of engagement with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and the ability to produce scholarly outputs.
- Examples of innovative teaching or curriculum initiatives in the last three years that have enhanced the student experience.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
