What You’ll Do

As a Learning Librarian, you’ll be at the heart of student learning, helping them develop essential research and digital skills. Your work will include:

  • On-Demand Support – Be the go-to expert for students via chat, phone, and in-person service points. You’ll also contribute to workshops and events that enrich student learning.
  • In-Subject Collaboration – Partner with Senior Learning Librarians to embed library learning into the curriculum.
  • Digital Learning Creation – Design engaging videos, interactive modules, and online guides that make learning accessible and flexible.

This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career librarians who have:

  • A qualification in Library and Information Science (or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and digital literacy skills
  • A passion for teaching and engaging with students
  • An interest in creating dynamic learning resources
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of on-demand services, including online and face-to-face classes, weekend and out of hours work, and library systems such as Alma.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of learning and teaching principles, and the role of the academic library in learning and teaching processes and workflows.
  • Experience in developing and delivering programs to meet the learning needs of varying student cohorts in an academic library enviroment, including undergraduate, postgraduate, regional and international; and with specific focus on inclusion and diversity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and experience with digital learning resources and pedagogy, including resource development, creative technologies, and online learning pedagogy.
