About the Role: La Trobe University’s Department of Community and Clinical Health is seeking a Lecturer in Speech Pathology (Teaching Focused) to join our team. In this role, you will develop curriculum, teach, and support students in their learning, while also contributing to the administrative functions and scholarly work of the discipline. You’ll be part of a dynamic, innovative school with a strong reputation for research excellence, industry partnerships, and student success.
The Discipline of Speech Pathology offers a four-year Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) and a two-year Master of Speech Pathology, both accredited by Speech Pathology Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, and teach subjects, delivering high-quality learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, and workshops.
- Provide constructive, fair, and timely feedback to students.
- Demonstrate a scholarly approach to learning and teaching, contributing to disciplinary pedagogy.
- Lead and implement teaching improvement projects at subject, course, or discipline level.
- Mentor other academics on good teaching practice.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer within and between subjects.
- Serve on committees and perform allocated administrative functions.
- Participate in continuing education for the profession or teaching community.
- Undertake other duties as required by the Discipline Lead, Head of Department, or Dean.
About You:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, subject coordination, and curriculum development.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and productively with staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to diversity, accountability, connectedness, innovation, and care.
- Ability to build a culture of continuous improvement.
- (Desirable) Clinical and/or teaching experience in areas such as clinical education, paediatric speech and language, linguistics, voice, adult developmental disability, literacy, First Nations’ health, or swallowing.
- (Desirable) PhD or evidence of enrolment in a PhD, or Graduate Certificate in Higher Education
