We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.
To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.
About the Role: La Trobe University’s Department of Community & Clinical Health is seeking expressions of interest for a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy (Teaching Focussed) to join our casual pool. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs in occupational therapy, supporting the next generation of clinical professionals.
You’ll be part of a dynamic, innovative team within a School renowned for research excellence, industry partnerships, and a commitment to student success. Our new Clinical Teaching Building and student-led clinic provide state-of-the-art facilities for occupational therapy education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and teach subjects, including practice education, delivering high-quality learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, clinical sessions, and online, blended, or face-to-face modes.
- Provide constructive, fair, and timely feedback to students.
- Lead and participate in curriculum design and review, embedding employability capabilities and innovative teaching practices.
- Lead and implement teaching improvement projects.
- Supervise or co-supervise honours students.
- Mentor and develop staff within the work area, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Undertake other duties as required by the Head of Department or School.
About You:
- PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination across various delivery modes.
- Evidence of innovative initiatives that have improved the student experience.
- Ability to influence the teaching practice of others and engage with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Ability to supervise or co-supervise honours and postgraduate students.
- Knowledge, expertise, and skills in key areas of occupational therapy.
