To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.
About the Role: La Trobe University’s Department of Languages & Cultures is seeking expressions of interest for a Lecturer in English (Teaching Focussed). In this role, you will contribute to the teaching, curriculum development, and scholarly work in English, supporting our commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and teach subjects, delivering high-quality learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops (face-to-face, online, and blended).
· Provide constructive, fair, and timely feedback to students.
· Initiate and participate in innovative curriculum design and review, embedding employability capabilities and best practice teaching.
· Provide co-supervision to Honours, Masters, and PhD students.
· Demonstrate a scholarly approach to learning and teaching, contributing to La Trobe’s Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SOLT).
· Undertake other duties as required by the Head of Department or School.
About You:
· PhD submitted for examination, or very close to submission, in English or a relevant discipline.
· Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination across various delivery modes.
· Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
· Experience in innovative teaching initiatives that have improved the student experience.
· Ability to supervise or co-supervise honours and postgraduate students.
· Commitment to ongoing research and a publication record appropriate to career stage.
