About the position

This role sits within the Web & Digital Experience team, which is part of the Marketing Strategy and Insights Department within the Marketing and Recruitment Division. The team is responsible for enhancing the website and overall digital experience for the University, with a focus on the engagement of prospective students in the early stages of their journey, from awareness to conversion (applications).

The Digital Experience & Optimisation Specialist plays a critical role in improving the effectiveness of La Trobe University’s digital presence through data-led insights, experimentation and experience uplift.

This role takes ownership of the website optimisation program, combining both strategic and tactical responsibilities, with a focus on improving lead volume capture, lead quality, engagement and application conversion. The specialist will play a leading role in data analysis, experimentation, A/B testing, and personalisation strategies to improve digital performance and user experience.

The role requires a blend of hands-on delivery and critical thinking, using actionable insights to inform direction and continuously improve the digital experience. Success in this role will depend on close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate data-driven opportunities into impactful optimisation and personalisation initiatives.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • A customer-centric digital optimisation or marketing professional with experience in using data to improve website conversion and digital engagement.
  • Strong understanding of CRO strategies, web UX principles, and user behaviour analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to take strategic ownership of a digital optimisation roadmap and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Demonstrated technical capability across digital analytics and optimisation platforms, with confidence to advise on best practice implementation and contribute to hands-on delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience using A/B testing and personalisation platforms (ideally Adobe Target).
  • Experience working with a content management system (e.g., Squiz Matrix, WordPress, Drupal).
