About the position
The QA & Testing Analyst plays a technical and collaborative role, working closely with development, middleware, and cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity of La Trobe University's enterprise applications. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and scripts, performing integration and end-to-end testing, and validating system-wide functionality and performance. The role also involves conducting API and data testing, using SQL to check data integrity, and undertaking both manual and automated testing to ensure applications meet requirements.
Additionally, the analyst is responsible for defect management by logging, tracking, and verifying defect resolutions, as well as performing regression testing to ensure application stability. Collaboration is central to this position, requiring regular interaction with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to align development and testing efforts. The analyst is also expected to stay abreast of the latest testing methodologies and tools, continuously seek process improvements, and help drive testing automation and efficiency.
Documentation and reporting form another core aspect, with the analyst maintaining detailed records of test activities and providing regular updates on progress, defect status, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in quality assurance and testing for enterprise applications (manual and automated)
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies (e.g. ISTQB standards), integration, regression, and performance testing
- Technical expertise in API test case creation and execution, data integrity checks, and system integration management
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork and efficient defect management
- Ability to develop procedures, negotiate solutions among stakeholders, and support team professional development
- Project management experience in the tertiary sector or related field
- Initiative in applying advanced techniques and strong stakeholder management skills
An ISTQB Certification is highly desirable.
