About the position:
This position is responsible for the coordination and operational delivery of La Trobe’s outbound student mobility programs. These include short-term overseas experiences such as academic-led study tours, international placements, and programs delivered through third-party providers. The role ensures the effective administration of these programs, supporting students throughout the application lifecycle and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning Abroad & Sponsored Programs, the Learning Abroad Coordinator works closely with internal stakeholders—including academic staff, faculties, and administrative teams—as well as external partners and providers. The role involves managing application processes, conducting individual student consultations, facilitating information sessions, and providing tailored advice on program options and partner institutions.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Co-ordinate, manage and administer inbound and outbound student mobility programs, including study abroad, ensuring smooth delivery and adherence to timelines.
- Produce and analyse reports relevant to the role and provide relevant advice to Senior Manager Learning Abroad and Sponsored Programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, such as faculty, academic advisors, and administrative staff, to ensure the integration of learning abroad opportunities into academic programs.
- Establish and manage partnerships with partner universities, third-party providers, and international organizations to enhance the variety and scope of global programs offered.
- Ensure all programs adhere to university policies, international agreements, and relevant legislative requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with risk management frameworks, travel insurance, and other legal obligations for students traveling overseas.
Skills and knowledge required for the position:
- Degree with subsequent relevant experience to consolidate the theories and principles learned, or extensive experience, leading to either the development of specialist expertise or to the development of broad knowledge in an administrative field, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated depth or breadth of expertise in student mobility programs developed through extensive relevant experience and application.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating complex programs or projects, preferably in an international education or university setting.
- Sound understanding of compliance obligations and risk management practices related to international student mobility, including travel safety, insurance, and institutional policies.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously, meet deadlines, and ensure smooth operational delivery.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively engage with internal stakeholders and external partners, fostering collaboration and ensuring program success.
