We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project.
To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.
About the Role:
La Trobe University is seeking a passionate and innovative Lecturer in English and Creative Writing to join our dedicated Department of Languages and Cultures. This continuing, teaching-focused role is aimed at enhancing the quality and consistency of our English and Creative Writing curriculum, moving away from reliance on casual staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences and fostering a positive student environment through face-to-face, online, and blended teaching modes.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, and other sessions in various teaching modes.
- Provide constructive, fair, and timely feedback to students.
- Work collaboratively on subject and course design, with an emphasis on curriculum innovation.
- Coordinate and contribute to core subjects in English and/or Creative Writing.
- Engage in teaching and learning scholarship to continuously enhance the student experience.
Requirements:
- A PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Experience teaching English and/or Creative Writing at La Trobe within the last two years.
- Strong skills in using LMS and Gradebook for student assessments.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
