About the position

La Trobe University is seeking an exceptional executive leader to join the Future Growth portfolio as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Future Students). Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Future Growth, this pivotal role will shape and deliver the University's domestic and international student recruitment strategy, driving enrolment growth and strengthening La Trobe's position as a destination of choice for future students.

Leading the full future student lifecycle, from enquiry through to enrolment, the role provides strategic oversight of recruitment, admissions, channel management, student conversion and international compliance. Working closely with senior academic and professional leaders, the successful candidate will identify growth opportunities, build strategic partnerships and provide expert advice to drive sustainable growth across domestic and international markets.

Duties at this level:

  • Lead the University's student recruitment and conversion strategy across domestic and international markets, aligning activities to institutional growth objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new markets, channels, segments and partnerships that support sustainable student growth.
  • Provide executive oversight of admissions, offer management and conversion operations, partnering with colleagues across the University to ensure a seamless prospective student experience.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships that advance the University's growth agenda across domestic and international markets.
  • Represent the University at senior sector, industry and governance forums, strengthening La Trobe's profile, influence and market position.
  • Lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and collaboration.

Skills and knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale student recruitment, admissions, enrolment management or growth-focused functions within a complex organisation.
  • Deep understanding of the higher education sector, including market dynamics, funding models, regulatory requirements and domestic and international student demand.
  • Proven capability to develop and execute strategic growth initiatives that deliver measurable organisational outcomes.
  • Extensive experience building strategic partnerships and influencing senior stakeholders across complex environments.
  • Strong commercial, strategic and analytical capability, with the ability to leverage market intelligence and performance data to inform decision making.
  • Exceptional communication, engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholder groups around shared objectives.
