 About us

The Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) works to create and translate knowledge that enables inclusion, equity, health and wellbeing, particularly as they relate to sex, gender, sexuality and relationships. ARCSHS is home to the largest program of LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing research and knowledge translation in Australia, with expertise in family, domestic and sexual violence, alcohol and other drug use, youth, ageing and mental health. 

Rainbow Health Australia (RHA) is a program within ARCSHS that supports LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing through research and knowledge translation, training, resources, policy advice and service accreditation through the Rainbow Tick. 

About the position 

Join RHA and contribute to improving LGBTIQA+ health, wellbeing and inclusion across health and community services.  

As the Knowledge Translation Officer, you will support the development and delivery of RHA’s capability-building and knowledge translation programs, including Rainbow Tick and national primary care initiatives. You will translate research and evidence into practical resources, training and implementation supports; contribute to quality improvement activities; and work with partner organisations to strengthen inclusive and affirmative practice. 

We are seeking an experienced professional with expertise in training and resource development, strong research and knowledge translation skills, and a demonstrated understanding of LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing. You will bring excellent facilitation, communication and program administration skills and the ability to work collaboratively across research, health and community service settings. 

Essential Criteria 

Skills and knowledge required for the position 

• Demonstrated excellent research and analytical skills, including literature reviews, and the production of key content summaries  
• A relevant degree with four years of post-qualification experience with demonstrated extension of theories and principles; or six years of relevant industry experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience  
• Experience in the design and delivery of training programs, including formal qualifications or high-level experience in curriculum development, delivery and management of training programs preferably in the health and human services sector  
• Demonstrated understanding of key issues in LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing, and preferably experience working in projects aimed at advancing LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
