The Senior Manager, Product & Portfolio Innovation is a pivotal role within the Product and Growth team at La Trobe University, responsible for driving portfolio innovation and leading growth initiatives across the institution. The role requires close collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior executives, professional staff, academics, and teams across marketing, finance, operations, and recruitment. The Senior Manager is tasked with shaping portfolio strategy, providing analysis and insight, and delivering a market-leading product portfolio that supports the University's strategic, financial, and customer objectives. 

Key responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional product and growth activities, developing frameworks and policies, and guiding strategic portfolio development. The role also involves analysing market intelligence, conducting research for new opportunities, reporting on product performance, and ensuring pricing strategies maximise revenue. Additionally, the Senior Manager supports delivery of products and initiatives in alignment with brand values, proposes process improvements, undertakes operational reviews, manages projects, and supports marketing and recruitment initiatives to ensure governance and alignment with organisational goals. 

Skills and Experience 

To be considered for this position, you will have: 

  • Proven expertise in project management within product portfolios, with a strong ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver across priorities, as well as develop and implement innovative solutions that drive strategic improvement and change. 

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex and political environment, with limited supervision and balance a range of priorities and expectations within tight timelines. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships, including demonstrated experience working with and influencing senior management. 

  • Proven ability to introduce and support practical change through credibility, judgement and effective implementation. 

  • Proven experience and success in managing staff performance and development.
