About the position

La Trobe Rural Health School (LRHS) is Australia’s largest rural health school, with campuses in Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton and Albury-Wodonga. We offer a wide range of health programs and are committed to improving rural health and wellbeing through graduates and research.

Our Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) is delivered at Bendigo and Bundoora, alongside the Master of Occupational Therapy Practice at Bundoora. Research is supported by leading centres, including the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health and the John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research.

A Level B teaching focused academic will design and deliver curriculum, contribute to teaching innovation and engage in scholarly activities that advance their discipline or professional field.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Coordinate and teach subjects, primarily at the undergraduate level, providing a high-quality learning experience and using a range of engaging teaching methods, including face-to-face and online lectures, workshops, practical sessions, seminars, simulation and clinical training and other asynchronous activities.
  • Oversee subject learning management platforms and handle administrative tasks related to subject management and teaching team coordination to ensure compliance and support student engagement.
  • Initiate, design and participate in evidence-based, innovative subject and course-level curriculum design (including embedding employability capabilities) to enhance the student experience and success.
  • Preparation and marking of student assessments, including validation and moderation.
  • Student consultation and provision of constructive, fair and timely feedback on learning to students following policies and procedures for assessment and moderation.

Skills & Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification, such as PhD equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University and the occupational therapy profession.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, and evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards, peer-review of teaching or through other equivalent forms of evidence.
  • Relevant contemporary clinical/professional experience as relevant in occupational therapy.
  • Consolidated skills in the use of evidence-based practice in occupational therapy and teaching and learning.
  • High-level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, initiate and follow-up actions, all with minimal or no supervision.
