We are reducing the overall use of academic casual employment and providing meaningful pathways for casual academic staff to ongoing academic employment through our casual consolidation project. To be eligible, you must (a) Have casual experience totalling at least two (2) teaching sessions at La Trobe University in the previous two (2) years; (b) Have not held a continuing position in a university in the previous three (3) years.
About the Role
Join La Trobe University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) as a Lecturer (Teaching-Focussed). You’ll be part of a vibrant, innovative school renowned for its student-centred learning environment, cutting-edge research, and industry partnerships. The department offers accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in , AI, software engineering, cybersecurity, and more.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver high-quality teaching in computer science and IT, including online lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops.
· Develop and coordinate engaging curriculum and learning experiences, embedding employability skills and industry input.
· Provide constructive, timely feedback to students and support their career aspirations.
· Contribute to curriculum innovation and continuous improvement, using evidence-based approaches.
· Build and maintain strong links with industry, especially in Smart City and IoT networking. Having a good knowledge of cyber-physical systems is desired.Support the School’s learning and teaching initiatives and collaborate with colleagues across the University.
· Undertake administrative duties as required.
About You
· PhD or equivalent accreditation in a Computing discipline.
· Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination (online or blended modes).
· Evidence of innovative teaching initiatives that have improved student experience.
· Ability to influence and support the teaching practice of others.
· Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
· Skills in teaching Embedded C/C++, Node.js, and Python (knowledge of Physical AI is an advantage).
· Expertise in Cloud and Systems development, with a strong industry focus.
· Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
