About the position
This project will create a Materials Intelligence Platform (an integrated software environment) for understanding complex materials systems focused initially on the Australian Intelligence Challenges, with broader applications in the manufacturing, biomedical and minerals sectors.
This position is being advertised at three levels: Level A, Level B, and Level C. Applicants will be considered for all levels; however, you must clearly state in your application which level (A, B or C) you believe best matches your skills and experience.
Please note: The appointment may be made at a different level depending on the selection panel’s assessment of your skills, experience, and qualifications.
Level A:
You will take on the key role of “Research Software Engineer Associate” in a 12-month research translation project funded by Australian Department of Education under the “Australia’s Economic Accelerator” Ignite Program. The project (IG240100096), entitled “A Materials Intelligence Platform for understanding complex materials systems and environments” is led by Lead Entrepreneur Dr Sarah Bamford, and Collaborating Entrepreneurs Professor Paul Pigram, Professor Dave Winkler, Associate Professor Grant van Riessen and Dr Wil Gardner.
The key outcome of your role will be the delivery of a platform prototype for local workstation, on premises HPC and cloud deployment. Your role will support the development of a portfolio of application case studies demonstrating best in class capacity for understanding materials design, origin, fabrication, performance, and failure, leveraging large scale data sets. The platform development project will commence at TRL 3 and conclude at TRL 5.
