Are you a dynamic academic leader ready to shape the future of education?
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Discipline Lead to provide strategic and academic leadership within the School of Education. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead course development, staff mentorship and quality teaching and research outcomes aligned with the University’s vision. You’ll also oversee curriculum enhancement; ensure accreditation standards are met and foster cross-campus collaboration and external engagement.
To succeed, you'll bring demonstrated leadership in academic planning, staff development, and research, with a strong track record of teaching excellence and impactful scholarly contributions.
Some of your duties at this level will include:
- Lead the discipline in alignment with the strategic goals of the School of Education and La Trobe University.
- Act as the primary liaison to foster collaboration and communication across campuses.
- Mentor and collaborate with discipline leaders to improve student outcomes.
- Undertake administrative and leadership duties as assigned by the Head of Department or Dean.
- Enhance the discipline’s national and international reputation through research and engagement.
- Serve as Acting Head of Department when required.
- Strengthen La Trobe’s research culture and lead strategic research projects.
- Secure research funding through grants, contracts, or consultancies.
To be considered for this position the successful incumbent will demonstrate:
- Experience in designing and reviewing innovative curriculum and teaching practices.
- Proven leadership in course, program, or disciplinary contexts.
- Strong mentoring and staff development capabilities.
- Ability to support staff growth and career progression.
- Experience developing and leading strategic research and engagement plans.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and research aligned with schools’ goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Skilled in engaging with external partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in managing staff performance and development.
