About us: The Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) works to create and translate knowledge that enables inclusion, equity, health and wellbeing, particularly as they relate to sex, gender, sexuality and relationships. ARCSHS is home to the largest program of LGBTQ health and wellbeing research and knowledge translation in Australia, with expertise in family, domestic and sexual violence, alcohol and other drug use, and mental health.

Rainbow Health Australia is a program within ARCSHS that supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) health and wellbeing through research and knowledge translation, training, resources, policy advice and service accreditation through the Rainbow Tick.

 

About the role: Join Rainbow Health Australia, as our new Knowledge Translation Manager.

Reporting to the Program Lead, the successful applicant will lead research and knowledge translation processes to improve and sustain quality in Rainbow Health Australia's capacity building and advocacy activities. This includes supporting the evidence-based development of sector-specific capability building activities, including training for health and human services to support them to meet the needs of LGBTIQ+ service users, volunteers and staff.

 

 Duties at this level will include:

  • The production and co-creation of knowledge translation outputs such as evidence briefings, guides and resources, and capability-building programs to influence practice, policy and law.
  • Support the evidence- base and quality of Rainbow Health Australia’s training packages, resources, communities of practice and other capacity building activities.
  • Provide specialist advice on content and strategy relating to program priorities
  • Support Rainbow Health Australia staff to maintain a detailed working knowledge of research relating to LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing and inclusive practice.
  • Work alongside ARCSHS researchers to support research outcomes, knowledge translation capability building and the integration of academic literature in Rainbow Health Australia outputs.

 

 Essential Criteria

Skills and knowledge required for the position

  • A bachelor’s degree with substantial extension of the theories and principles, learned through experience; or a range of management experience; or postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyse, synthesis and integrate data from a range of sources to support evidence-based knowledge translation outputs
  • Intermediate research skills, including, literature reviews, analysis, key content summaries
  • Experience in the design and delivery of training programs, including formal qualifications or high-level experience in curriculum development, delivery and management of training programs preferably in the health and human services sector
  • A detailed working knowledge of research related to LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing, and its implications for service delivery, policy and interventions.
