  • Base Salary from $138,453 + 17% superannuation

About the position

The Manager, Building Services provides specialist leadership and technical oversight across key building services disciplines, ensuring the safety, performance and lifecycle integrity of university assets.

This role leads and coordinates critical building services activities, including:

  • Oversight of Integrated Fire Mode Testing (IFMT) and related compliance activities
  • Providing expert advice on the development, review and validation of building fire matrices
  • Managing commissioning, witness testing and asset handover processes
  • Ensuring the integrity, governance and quality of asset data and asset management systems
  • Driving consistency in technical standards, data quality and lifecycle planning across the built environment

Duties at this level:

  • Assist the Senior Manager, Engineering providing Engineering advice for university infrastructure across disciplines including electrical, mechanical, fireand hydraulics.  Managing, monitoring, measuring and reporting the performance in accordance with agreed indicators and benchmarks.
  • Detailed involvement in asset handover including building services commissioning and witness testing, as well as ongoing management of the Infrastructure & Operations asset databased ensuring best governance practices occur. 
  • Responsible for managing consistent delivery methodologies of technical standards, data quality and lifecycle planning.  Providing technical advice on planned maintenance scopes and outcomes, future capital replacements, and end of life asset renewal.
  • Actively manage fire matrix system interface testing across all locations providing continual improvement to processes to ensure adequate communication, accurate documentation and timely completion.

Skills and knowledge:

  • A degree (Engineering preferred), extensive management expertise and supporting experience, or postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and controlling budgets/resources/funding and an understanding of financial management procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in Building services Engineering and facilities management
  • Specialised facilities knowledge of complex methods and techniques within hard services e.g. mechanical, electrical, fire (wet & dry), hydraulics and BMS systems
