About the position

Reporting to an inspiring and values-led manager (the Senior Manager, Business Support Services) this is an important role within a large La Trobe University Finance team. Leading the Operational Finance Business Partnering team to ensure that centralised support to the university is of high quality at all times.

This role take ownership of the monthly & ad-hoc reporting, the month end process, reconciliations and operational business partnering while supporting forecasting & budgeting for the whole University. There is a heavy focus on Continuous Improvement and ensuring all the key tasks are being done faster and better. Opportunities abound to get involved in projects involving AI tools for Finance, Procurement, Financial Systems Integration & supporting highly commercial projects – this is a role that will allow you to leave your mark on a large-scale organisation that is focused on shaping the future of our students and communities. While primarily a team leadership role there are plenty of opportunities to shape your day-to-day by getting involved with strategic projects and advising senior stakeholders directly.

There is a stable team of 8 talented Finance professionals, ranging from Senior Analyst to Interns, who have contributed to creating a friendly, high-performing team culture that you will help foster. This is a team and manager that are focused on “how” you work, not just the outcomes.

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

• Demonstrated experience managing and controlling budgets/resources/funding and an understanding of financial management procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative policies and practices in pursuit of continuous improvement.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain sound working relationships internally and externally and to communicate effectively on a range of sensitive and complex issues.
