About the position

The Nursing and Midwifery School is one of the oldest tertiary Nursing Schools in Australia and offers a range of quality and market ready education programs. As the field has evolved, there is a growing need for healthcare simulation and along with it, an increased demand for skilled simulation support staff.

We are seeking a Technical Officer to work within the Facilities and Technical Services (FTS) team to support the Nursing teaching program within the Regional FTS Cluster in Bendigo. This position will provide a broad range of technical, administrative, and facilities-based support to assist teaching staff and students to achieve teaching, learning and research outcomes associated with the School.

Routine tasks include:

• Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment (e.g. manikins)

• Training support

• Set-up and pack-down of classes

• Management of consumables

 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for these positions, you will have:

  • A recognised nursing qualification with subsequent relevant experience in a clinical laboratory, OR an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience within a clinical laboratory or nursing environment.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual and computer equipment would be considered advantageous.
  • High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, and the use of the internet as a research tool.
  • Demonstrated understanding as to the range and type of medical equipment and consumables used in tertiary nursing education programs and clinical teaching laboratories, with an understanding of simulation theory, equipment, and technology.
