La Trobe University is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee and grow our key equity and strategic school partnerships. This is an exciting secondment opportunity for someone who is passionate about widening participation, school engagement, and shaping initiatives that lift aspirations for higher education across Victoria.
About the Role
Reporting to the Academic Director, Widening Participation, you will lead the Educational Partnerships Program and team—delivering impactful and innovative outreach activities to low SES and regional schools, and ensuring high-quality partnership governance, evaluation, and compliance.
You will also manage La Trobe’s major strategic partnerships, including Ivanhoe Grammar School and Charles La Trobe College, while driving emerging partnerships such as the Centre for Higher Education Studies
This position plays a pivotal role in advising senior leaders on opportunities, risks, and strategic direction for school engagement aligned with the University’s equity mission and strategic plans.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Educational Partnerships Program and associated staff.
• Manage strategic and equity school partnerships, service-level agreements and associated staff.
• Manage the delivery of innovative outreach initiatives, including programs for middle-years students.
• Provide high-level advice to senior leaders on partnership opportunities and strategic alignment.
• Oversee compliance, reporting, evaluation, and legal obligations related to partnerships.
• Manage budgets and resources for equity and strategic outreach programs.
Skills & Experience
• A teaching degree and/or significant experience in education management, outreach, or school engagement.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
• Experience leading teams and managing strategic programs.
• Demonstrated success managing budgets, resources, and complex compliance requirements.
• Ability to influence, negotiate, and operate effectively within complex environments.
• Strategic thinker with strong innovation, analytical, and policy development skills.
