About the position
La Trobe University’s Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy seeks to appoint an excellent candidate to a fractional, fixed-term Level A Teaching Fellowship to be held concurrently as a PhD candidate at La Trobe University. This teaching-focussed position is designed to help deliver subjects in the Philosophy major.
Applicants must be currently enrolled as PhD students at La Trobe University, and the term of this position is limited by the duration of their remaining candidature.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the development of curriculum and assist in the coordination and delivery of subjects. This includes effective use of administrative systems (timetabling, tutorial allocation, results, student records etc.), as well as effective teaching, marking, and support for students as they learn. Although this is a teaching-focussed role, the appointed person will also undertake scholarly work commensurate with a 10% research allocation, either in a research area relevant to philosophy or in learning and teaching related to philosophy.
The applicant may be asked to teach into any of the subjects in the Philosophy major.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Evidence of participation in a PhD in a relevant discipline or research area at La Trobe University. Note: this position is only available to current La Trobe students and for a period not extending beyond the academic year in which the person ceases to be a student.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively, collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to use subject administrative systems effectively, including timetabling, learning management systems, results reporting, and student record systems.
