About the position

This position is for a postdoctoral researcher that will significantly advance research excellence in close collaboration with industry. They will be responsible for leading the research project in Kong research group (Advanced Polymer and Composite Materials Laboratory) in close collaboration with industrial partner, under the MOBIUS umbrella, working closely with other MOBIUS and Kong group postdoctoral researchers and HDR students.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • Completion of a PhD in the relevant discipline (chemistry, polymer science, chemical engineering, materials engineering or similar).
  • Evidence of experience in research and evaluation, and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • Expertise in bio-adhesives and hydrogels for biomedical applications, polymer chemistry and modification of polymers, mechanical testing of adhesives, biomaterials and polymers, materials characterisation and chemical characterisation of functional polymers (such as FTIR, NMR).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in a cooperative and collegial manner.
  • A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
  • A passion for and track record of training the next generation of industry-ready researchers, with some experience in co-supervision.
  • Proven ability to meet industry-driven milestones, including producing reports.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in research teams and with academia.
